Why promote your web site?

There are billions of web pages trying to achieve the top search position, which is why just being listed is no longer enough. Statistically, a number one ranking in the web search results will draw approximately 50% of all clicks, while at the bottom of the first page, sites may only receive 2% of clicks. By the second page of results it's less than 1%1. Quite simply, web site promotion is necessary to avoid complete obscurity.

How search engines work

Search engines use "spiders" or "crawlers" to index web pages based on complex algorithms and keywords. Crawlers often rely on the way your pages are constructed and the keywords within the text. When someone searches a keyword, search engines check which sites match the search term. Unless a Crawler has indexed your site it will never appear in a search.

What is search engine optimisation (SEO)?

SEO is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results for targeted keywords.
